Avenue Strawberry Hill July 2022
I was walking through the streets of Strawberry Hill in the late afternoon on the way to that masterpiece of ‘gothick’ Hugh Walpole’s ‘little castle’. It was a very warm afternoon in early July and I noticed an enfillade of mature trees making an avenue effect as the curved away. I was struck by the deep shadows across the pavement and the shadow cast by the leaves on the foremost trunk. I did my best to capture the warmth and light.
